What is a common symptom of bursitis?

Localized pain and swelling are hallmark symptoms of bursitis. Bursitis occurs when the bursa, a small fluid-filled sac that reduces friction between tissues, becomes inflamed. This inflammation typically results in pain that is felt directly over the affected bursa, often exacerbated by movement of the joint nearby. The swelling can also be attributed to an accumulation of fluid as the body responds to the inflammation. Since bursitis often affects joints such as the shoulder, elbow, or hip, the localized nature of the pain and swelling is a clear indication of this condition. Other symptoms like generalized body aches or joint stiffness may occur in various musculoskeletal conditions but are not specific to bursitis. Severe head pain, which relates to headaches, does not align with the typical presentation of bursitis.
